Amarras Leather Company was created by Alvaro Sanint back in 1973 in Cali, Colombia. Amarras was built upon a foundation of compassion, a reward for hard work, human dignity, and above all—hope.
Alvaro's number one priority has always been to help the people in need in Colombia; through his Leather Belts, he created a charity to donate to underprivileged people. Quickly his leather belt business grew exponentially to the point where Alvaro was not able to meet demand on his own. Therefore, he saw this growth as an opportunity to teach underprivileged women and men how to craft the belts in order to provide jobs and the possibility of a brighter future.
Every product you purchase from Amarras Company has been handmade with love and care by a man or woman who needed help, needed a job, and needed a better future.
Today, Alvaro's charity provides three meals a day, primary education, and essential health services to over 240 children and 150 single mothers. Of those women 105 work for Amarras Belt Company at his private warehouse and manufacturing facility in Cali, Colombia.
The rest of his workforce includes men and women who have escaped a dark and violent past. These are people who are trying to cope, reintegrate, and become contributing members of society. Alvaro Sanint believes in giving second chances. He understands the importance of helping these people and how a nation's future can be altered by changing people's lives.
